Governor Lonyangapuo put to task for abandoning projects initiated by his

West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo was on Monday taken to task by the Senate Public Accounts Committee over stalled projects.

Governor Lonyangapuo was hard pressed to explain to the committee why he abandoned projects initiated by his predecessor Simon Kachapin.

According to the Auditor General’s report, the County lost over Sh500 million which had been used in 12 incomplete and stalled mega infrastructural projects, including the governor’s residence.

The 2017/18 audit report queries why projects worth Sh797.78 million had stalled at various stages with the previous administration having already pumped Sh519.65 million into them.

The projects include Sh409 million Keringet Agricultural Training College whose construction stalled after Sh300 million was sunk in and the governor’s residence whose construction cost was Sh113 million among others.
