Governor Lonyangapuo summons County Assembly staff as turf wars with Speaker Mukenyang heightens

West Pokot Governor has called an unscheduled meeting with the County Assembly staff amid heightened turf wars with Speaker Catherine Mukenyang.

In a letter seen by Northrift News, Governor Lonyangapuo has summoned the assembly staff for an ‘urgent’ meeting.

The meeting will be held this morning, Thursday, October 1st at his official residence.

“His Excellency the Governor has directed that you call for an urgent meeting of all County Assembly Staff tomorrow 1st October, 2020 at the Governor’s Residence from 8am to 9am. Please be punctual,” read the letter addressed to the County Assembly Clerk.

The letter authored by the County Secretary John Karamunya has also been copied the the County Assembly Speaker.

Lonyangapuo and Mukenyang have parted ways politically with the governor claiming the speaker is keen on stifling his development agenda.

In the supremacy battle, the Assembly Boss has the backing of the KANU party headquarters a move that has frustrated the County Boss.

It is not clear what the agenda of the meeting is but speculations are ripe that Governor Lonyangapuo wants to whip support from the assembly staff to strengthen his fight against Speaker Mukenyang.
