Governors Mandago, Tolgos joined President Kenyatta during the KDF pass out parade in Uasin Gishu

Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago and his Elgeyo Marakwet counterpart Alex Tolgos on Thursday joined President Uhuru Kenyatta as he presided over the KDF pass out parade at the Kenya Defence Forces Recruits Training College at Moi Barracks Eldoret.

The two were the only high ranking political leaders from the North Rift region who attended the event since Uhuru’s fallout with his Deputy William Ruto.

This year’s event was a low key one due to Covid-19 restrictions and members of the public were not allowed to attend the function.

The President and his Deputy have had a major fallout with local leaders being roped into the cold war. Recently Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi was arraigned for alleged hate speech over his remarks against Uhuru and his family.

It is only Governor Mandago and Tolgos who have kept off the volatile politics involving the duo.

Tolgos was early this year appointed by President Kenyatta to lead the BBI campaigns in the Rift Valley region, signifying his close links with the Head of State.
