Governor Nanok launches Sh42 million fire engine, ending four-year wait

Turkana Governor Josphat Nanok has launched a Sh42 million fire engine, which has been at the centre of Senate Public Accounts Committee probe.

Governor Nanok launched the fully equipped engine at his office in Lodwar town to end criticism on his administration on disaster preparedness.

The County Boss said the fire engine will be used to respond to fire emergencies within Lodwar municipality and its environs.

He said his administration will establish fire departments and provide additional fire engines in other major towns in the county.

“Happy to have commission the county government fire engine under the directorate of urban areas management,” said Nanok.

The fire engine had delayed for four years, having been procured in 2016.
