West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapuo on Wednesday distributed more than 200 goats to farmers.
Governor Lonyangapuo said the goats will help dairy farmers improve local breeds.
“I distributed 298 Galla goats to five groups at Marich in Sekerr Ward. They are Mtelo Farmers, Ngimonoi Group, Mungat, Mtelo Keliokiak and Muruny Marich,” said Lonyangapuo.
“We are improving our local breeds through an elaborate programme which seeks to add market value and revitalise livestock keeping,” added the Governor.
The dairy goat project is part of a broader programme aimed at making the county self sufficient in the dairy value chain.
