Zambian pop star Lu-X scheduled to perform in Kapsabet this weekend

Just a few days after the return of Lubomba Hamahuwa alias Lu-X from Zambia, music lovers in Nandi are already getting excited over the announcement that Lu-X will be performing live in Kapsabet.

    Lu-X will be part of a smattering of artists who will perform live in an event dubbed ‘The Return of the Tonga Bull’. 

    The event will seek to surpass any other concert ever held in Kapsabet and will culminate in a spectacular bonanza of music, fireworks and unbridled revelry.

    Lu-X, who spoke to members of the press said he was looking forward to entertaining the people of Nandi in conjunction with local artists. 

    Lubomba Hamahuwa is a 28-year old Zambian musician. He quickly made a name for himself as one of Zambia’s most musically gifted youngsters in a great breakthrough in 2013. He rose to fame when he produced a hit song featuring Stevo, one of Zambia’s top award winning hip hop artists in Ilila Itambika. 

    At the same time, he signed a recording deal with Mbeats Generation Music which is one of Zambia’s biggest record labels.

    He started singing in 2008 when he was only 19 years old. He has since worked with established Zambian artists including Stevo, Jae Cash, Assa, Kapepa, Uncle Jah, and many other popular Zambian artists.

    He raps and sings in Tonga language spoken by Tonga tribe who live in Southern Zambia.

    According to Lu-X, talent is God given and he believes that he is talented in singing. He encourages people to explore and exploit their talents.

    He is inspired by East African artists such as Sauti Sol, Jaguar, Prezzo, Diamond P-Unit, Rabbit,  Eddie Kenzo among others. 

    He dreams of working with popular African artists including Davido, Wizkid,  Sarkodie, Diamond, Jaguar among others. 

    He encourages Kenyan and Zambian artists to work together and do collabos in order to exchange the various music cultures. 

    He has a recording studio called Tonga Bull Records, which he co-owns with his brother Mr Emmz in Luanshya, Zambia. They are hoping to turn it into a record lebel.

    Apart from music, Lubomba Hamahuwa is a student. He is in 4th year studying Bachelor of Development Studies at Baraton University.

    ‘The Return of the Tonga Bull’ concert will be held at the Sunshine Hotel in Kapsabet town, Nandi County on Saturday 16 from dusk to dawn. 

    The event is expected to attract more than 1000 people, more than the 500 that attended the previous concert in Kapsabet.

    “We are proud to host Lu-X at Kapsabet, Nandi County, he is a top musician and we expect entertainment from international talent,”  said Kipruto Kitur who will be attending the concert.

    The concert is one of the most anticipated by music lovers who nostalgically recall Lu-X’s performances from four years ago.
