Eldoret is set for a new phenomenon just yet. Eldohub, a woman led premier technology and innovation centre in the region has crafted a program that will creatively spur entrepreneurship in the region with the hallmark of this being a series of events dubbed ‘Fire ups,’ held periodically for networking and peer to peer business benefit.

The inaugural ‘Fire Up’ session for women in enterprise will be happening this weekend at their new locale in the periphery of town. Eldohub acknowledges the unique and gender specific issues that shape women led businesses and thus hope to set the tone for a platform creating conversations on the same.

We caught up with Magdalene Chepkemoi, the lady behind Eldohub and her team of ladies in enterprise at the centre. Magdalene is a Woman in Tech and a global ambassador of the same.

“More people need to plug into entrepreneurship and create new avenues for economic growth,” she said.

“Leveraging on technology as a development currency is the future of business, Eldohub will provide just that,” she added.

Patricia Jepkorir Lagat, is one of the beneficiaries of Eldohub with her ground-breaking and award winning application ‘Kuza’ under incubation at the centre. As one of the organizers for the upcoming event, she had this to say;

“Eldohub will be very instrumental in connecting businesses to tech solutions, I’m excited to be able to provide an innovative solution to agribusiness players under their guidance.”

“We hope to see more women especially take on entrepreneurship and leverage on all the available resources at their disposal,” added Carol Rotich, a former teacher with keen interest in real estate.

“There is a special interest in Eldoret at the moment as an economic hub with the entry of big players such as the Special Economic Zone and we need to be ready to plug into the opportunities that come with it.”

Carol will be working closely with Eldohub to raise young people in business. She brings a wealth of experience as both a teacher and having previously worked with Start Up Grind, a google powered platform connecting entrepreneurs.

Valuable insights on Entrepreneurship principles and practice, image and personal branding, opportunities and industry resources will be highlighted by notable speakers and panelists of the day. Amongst them are Mrs. Maggie Komen of Mace Foods, Robert Burale of Redily Bold an Image and personal branding company, Violet Mukami of Beata Management Consultants based in Nairobi and our very own Collins Boinet of Simba Energy.
