Turkana County Governor Josphat Nanok has said the bandit attack in Lokori, Turkana East early this week could be politically motivated.

While condemning the attack which saw two people killed and several others injured, Governor Nanok said the scale and timing raises eyebrows.

“With just 25 days to go to the general elections, these attacks raise questions of whether there is a political hand behind it all in bid to deny residents of Turkana East an opportunity to exercise their democratic duty,” he said.

The County boss pointed out that it is no coincidence that the attack is happening weeks before Kenyans vote in the general elections.

Two people were killed and several others injured after suspected Pokot bandits attacked Lokori and torched several houses before stealing unknown number of livestock.

Governor Nanok asked the National government through the Acting Interior Cabinet Secretary(CS) Dr. Fred Matiangi to take an immediate action to boost security in the region.

“No more life must be lost and peace must be restored in Turkana East and the entire county. It is our belief that the government still considers the duty of protection of life and property as one of the mandates handed to them by Kenyans,”added Nanok.
