Turkana county governor Josephat Nanok has clashed with the county assembly speaker Geoffrey Kaituko over the delay in the passage of the Decentralized Administration Bill.

Governor Nanok has hit out at the assembly boss accusing him of allegedly blocking the formation of village councils.

Earlier this week, Governor Nanok said the speaker who is campaigning for the senatorial seat should first ensure the bill is passed before he can seek the elective post.

However the assembly boss hit back accusing the governor of trying to interfere with the county assembly affairs.

“The governor cannot intimidate or order the assembly, he can only make requests to the house which can either be accepted or rejected,” said Kaituko.

MCA’s allied to the Jubilee coalition have frustrated the passage of the bill alleging that the governor intends to use the village councils as his campaign machinery.
