The programme whereby one students is selected in each of the 30 wards is aimed at enabling interested youth to pursue industrial courses.

According to Governor Josephat Nanok, his government has already budgeted Kshs 1.8 million for the programme.

“Our intention is to pay, in full the tuition and boarding expenses for the first batch of students to complete studies,” said Nanok.

“Thereafter, the regular skills Development Fund bursary will take over to fund such students in 2016/17 financial year onwards,” he added.

The programme is designed to give an opportunity to youth across the county to study various technical courses in bid to address shortage of manpower with technical skills.

Those picked for the programme were required to be willing to learn and possess an aptitude towards a technical career.
