Independent candidates in Trans Nzoia County have teamed up in bid to ensure they win majority of the political seats in the county.

Led by senatorial candidate Ken Wafula, the Independent candidates said they will now hold joint campaigns.

“We have formed a formidable alliance to work in solidarity with every independent candidate to ensure we secure majority of the political seats in the county,”said Robert Makona and Independent candidate vying for Saboti MP seat.

The leaders said they were a creation of shambolic nominations by different parties and urged residents to support their bids.

“We had no option but to contest as independent candidates because the nomination exercises which were done in several parties were shambolic and not transparent as several parties favoured some candidates,” said Makona.

The Independent candidates said they have put in place plans  Harambees to get campaigning money and resolved to hold joint grassroots campaigns.

They argued it was time for residents to elect leaders based on their integrity track record and not according to party affiliations as several leaders who won because of their respective party’s popularity have failed residents before.

They further appealed to party leaders to stop criticizing them in public but instead work with them at the grassroots level if they want to be elected, promising to rally their supporters to vote out leaders who have been against them.
