Nandi County Governor Stephen Sang on Tuesday used the official opening of the 2nd Nandi County Assembly to drum up support for the re-election of the Jubilee administration.

In his special address to the county assembly, Governor Sang urged Members of County Assembly to hit the campaign trail and ensure President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto get re-elected in the repeat Presidential poll scheduled for 17th of October 2017.The County boss noted that it was through the same election that he and the Members of County Assembly got elected.

“I urge all of us who have been elected to hit the campaign trail and get the Jubilee government back to power. Let us all mobilize our voters to come out in large numbers on the 17th October 2017 for the Repeat of Presidential election and vote President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto,”said Sang.

Governor Sang said it was unfortunate that the Supreme court nullified the Presidential election over what he described as minor clerical mistakes by Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission(IEBC). He however pointed out that though Jubilee didn’t agree with the ruling, they chose to respect it.

“It is unfortunate that the Supreme Court took a position that amounted to defeating the will of the 15 Million Kenyan voters on account of minor clerical mistakes by IEBC staff. Whereas we don’t agree with this decision that has attempted to rewrite democratic principles upon which our constitution is founded, we will respect the ruling,”Sang added.

Governor Sang has been a vocal supporter of the Jubilee administration and has marshaled all the MCAs including those who were elected on NASA and Independent tickets to back President Kenyatta and DP Ruto.

Already three MCAs elected on NASA tickets have declared support for the re-election of the Jubilee administration. They include Jackson Swadi(Kabwareng),Geoffrey Kevolwe(Kiptuiya) and Eliud Kirongo(Kapkangani).
