Nandi Central OCPD Stephen Obara has condemned the destruction of an effigy belonging to an aspirant for the Emgwen Parliamentary seat.

Isaya Gesicho Begi’s bill board along the Kapsabet-Eldoret highway was torched down by unknown people on Wednesday night, raising concerns over political tolerance among the aspirants and their supporters.

Speaking to the media on Thursday, Obara warned aspirants and their supporters against such incidents adding that such actions only lead to incitement and violence.

He said investigations into the incident had began and promised action would be taken against those responsible.

Mr. Obara warned politicians against incitements and revealed that anyone found culpable will be met with the full force of the law.

“I urge the public to relay information on such politicians and any other persons whose activities and actions may lead to incitement and intolerance,”said Obara.

The flamboyant Isaya, who is vying on a Jubilee Part ticket, has sent shivers running across the constituency, given his youthfulness and ability to get well along with the youth.

His campaign team dubbed TeamIzzo has hit the ground, giving incumbent Alex Kosgey and other aspirants a run for the money.

Other aspirants include former athlete Wilfred Bungei, Meshack Kimutai, Kipyego Meli and Martin Kilel.

Isaya called on his opponents to remain focused in their campaigns and called for political tolerance.

“I urge my opponents to sell their agenda and not focus on destroying their opponents’ campaign materials,” said Isaya.

The race has been billed by analysts as a three horse race between incumbent MP Alex, Isaya and Bungei.
