West Pokot Governor Simon Kachapin has said his rival Senator Prof. John Lonyangapuo is afraid of facing him in a face to face gubernatorial debate.

Governor Kachapin said a number of organisations are ready to hold a gubernatorial debate in the county but Prof. Lonyangapuo has chickened out since he is afraid of being exposed over his propaganda against the incumbent.

“He has been spreading propaganda and he is worried of being embarrassed by the public because he has been telling them lies,” said Kachapin.

The County boss said he had personally written a letter to his rival challenging him for a face off in a public debate buy he hasn’t been willing to do so.

“I want him come and sell his policies so that Wananchi can compare. I have looked at his manifesto and it has nothing important,” he said.

However, responding to the claims Senator Lonyangapuo dismissed the claims that he was afraid of facing the incumbent and said he was ready for the debate.

“I have been informed by the chairman of West Pokot chamber of commerce and am ready for the debate. Let the Governor be ready to present his scorecard to the residents for the years he has been in office,” said Lonyangapuo.
