Uasin Gishu County Governor Jackson Mandago has refuted claims that he snubbed the much hyped gubernatorial debate.

Governor Mandago said he is a kind of man who cannot shy away from political debates.

“My flight from Nairobi where I was attending the burial preparations for the late Nicholus Biwott was delayed for 3 hours due to heavy rains. That is the reason behind me coming late. I apologise for causing any incovinience ,”he said in Eldoret town,Thursday.

“In 2013 I participated in a similar debate as a gubernatorial aspirant. Why should I fear my competitor yet I am the sitting governor and have done a lot to the electorates,” he added.

He however urged their supporters to refrain from attacking each other, name calling and inciting people on tribal and political affiliations.

“We are good friends with my brother Buzeki. Why should you attack one another in the name of fighting for us,” noted Mandago.

The debate which was organized by Kenya Alliance of Resident Associations (KARA) in partnership with the Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) and Civil Society Urban Development Platform (CSUD) was postponed until a later date to be communicated.
