Baringo County Women Rep Grace Kiptui has set up solar streetlights in Marigat market.

Speaking in Marigat yesterday after the launch, Mrs. Kiptui said the lights will increase business hours for women operating in the market.

She said her office, through the affirmative action fund had decided to light up the market area in a bid to boost security and transform the market into a 24-hour economy.

“We want to drive away darkness that has restricted the business hours in our town, as your Women Rep I am committed to ensuring our women can extend their hours of operation without worrying about their security,” Kiptui said.

The lawmaker used the opportunity to hit out at her political rivals who she accused of spreading malicious rumors with the aim of derailing her re-election bid.

“Other aspirants who are eyeing my seat have nothing else which they can use to attack me ,that is why they have opted to spreading cheap propaganda,”she noted.
