Deputy President William Ruto’s wife, Rachel Ruto, earlier this week met West Pokot female Members of County Assembly (MCAs) at her home in Karen, Nairobi.
According to West Pokot Women Representative Lilian Tomitom, who organized the trip to Nairobi, women empowerment in the county was top of the agenda.
The lawmaker said Mrs. Ruto emphasized her desire to work with women leaders from the county in her vision to empower women folk.
She said they took the opportunity to invite Mrs. Ruto to visit the county to interact and have a closer discussion with women at the grassroots level.
The women rep also used the Nairobi trip to cultivate close working relations with the women Members of County Assembly, drawn from different political parties.
“We have agreed as Women leaders to put political differences aside for the sake of development,”said one of the MCAs.
