A family in Kitoroch village, Kamelilo in Tinderet, Nandi County are grieving in agony following the killing of their kin over alleged attempted theft.
The deceased identified as Philemon was attacked and killed by a mob.
The family of Philemon has said that the deceased was not in sound mind when he was attacked and killed due to mental illness.
Family members William Mutai and David Langat who were brothers to the deceased said he was suffering from mental illness and had fallen ill the night of the incident before leaving home.
“At 9 pm I was told he had fallen ill, he left, his wife arrived and asked for Philemon, I called him but he did not pick up. He was attacked at Kaplelach, when we got there he was still alive,”
The family expressed severe and overwhelming grief over the attack and killing of their kin especially with the knowledge on the part of those who committed the act that he was not of sound mind.
“Everybody knew Philemon, he engaged in business to earn livelihood. He has never stolen, the allegations are false,”
The family has said it will persue legal action to seek justice for their deceased kin.
