In his bid to establish meaningful and efficient service delivery to residents, Nandi Governor Stephen Sang has signed an agreement establishing a working partnership with the University of Kansas Medical Centre in Kansas City, United States of America(USA).
According to the agreement between the County Government of Nandi and The University of Kansas Medical Centre, the cooperation will focus on cultural, educational and research activities.
In a statement posted on his official Facebook page, Governor Sang pointed out that the agreement will focus on sponsorship activities for educational experiences, lectures, scholarly symposia and seminars.
The scope of the agreement is also to exchange students between the County Government and the university for exchange programmes and exchange of academic personnel for teaching and research.
“The institutions hereby agree to the following general forms of cooperation: joint research and educational activities, exchange of invitations to faculty, research personnel and graduate students for lectures, visits and sharing on experiences,”read part of the agreement.
Apart from exchange programs, the Medical Centre and the County Government will also allow personel to use health facilities in the two institutions for medical research purposes as agreed upon by the two parties. This is aimed at improving health outcomes in specified areas of the health sector in the county.
Exchange of academic materials such as scholarly publications, curriculum information and research reports and the exchange of information in fields of interests for both parties was also highlighted.
Governor Sang expressed his optimism that the agreement will provide a formal framework through which the University can support the County Government in its efforts of improving and delivering quality services in the health sector.
Present during the signing ceremony was the University of Kansas Chancellor, Douglas Girod and the University of Kansas Medical Centre Executive Vice Chancellor Robert Simari Klein.
