Baringo Senator Gideon Moi has been given a one month notice to vacate the County Assembly premises in Kabarnet town.
In a letter signed by the assembly clerk Joseph Koech, the assembly wants the Senator to move his liaison office out of their premises citing alleged limited space arising from an order to demolish the Speaker’s office.
“….this is due to the ongoing construction within the assembly and due to limited space available and arising from a letter from the contractor dated 18th May informing us that they would like to demolish the current Speaker’s office as per the contract,”read part of the notice.
According to the notice dated 29th May, the Speaker will be accommodated in the office space that housed Senator Moi’s liaison office.
In March this year, Baringo MCA’s clashed over the removal of Senator Moi’s liaison office from the assembly premises. Jubilee MCAs said the office was dormant and “illegally placed” in the assembly building.
They said the government allocates senators cash to rent their independent liaison offices in their respective counties.
