Uasin Gishu County’s capital of Eldoret will lead East and Central Africa as a participant of an economic program by Scottsdale City in Arizona, United States of America.
Scottsdale is a city in Arizona State which has eight sister cities, two in Africa; Eldoret being the only in East and Central Africa and the other being Marrakech, Morocco.
Governor Jackson Mandago and his Deputy Daniel Chemno hosted visitors for the American city on Monday, where they outlined positive similarities between the city and Eldoret.
Officials from Scottsdale City have disclosed plans for the US City to roll out an economic partnership with its eight sister cities.
Eldoret is awaiting corronation to become a city, several big infrastructural projects undergoing and being Kenya’s fastest growing economic hub, factors that could catapult the program.
Also, the DG said, direct flights linking Nairobi to John F Kennedy Airport in New York plays a crucial role in the partnership.
Among plans which the partnership seeks to achieve is establishment of a chilren’s hospital, a project also bringing close a university in Uasin Gishu County.
Donna Hartz and George Hartz are officials from Scottsdale who are in Uasin for a week to put things together, in anticipation of roll out of the program.
County Secretary Peter Leley, CECs Everlyne Rotich (Health), Mary Njogu (Water and Environment), Joseph Kurgat (Education and Sports) and Barnabas Tarus (PSM and devolution) were in the meeting.
