President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto will today visit West Pokot and Uasin Gishu Counties in North Rift.

They will start their meet-the-people tour in West Pokot before proceeding to Bungoma and later Uasin Gishu.

The duo will use the visit to thank residents for maintaining peace and voting for Jubilee leaders on August 8.

President Uhuru will mobilise residents to turn out in large numbers to vote for him on the date of the fresh presidential election.

They will first stop in Chepareria, West Pokot, before proceeding  to Bungoma, and later drive to Eldoret.

President Kenyatta has been categorical that Jubilee is ready for the repeat polls ordered by the Supreme Court welcoming the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission’s announcement of the date for the fresh election.

However, opposition coalition, NASA, are in disagreement with the electoral body over the set date and have threatened to boycott the exercise.

The IEBC have scheduled the presidential repeat polls to be held on October 17.

President Uhuru and DP Ruto have severally expressed misgivings about the court’s decision to nullify the presidential election, emphasizing that the election was about numbers and that the court subverted the will of the people.

The President and his Deputy will be accompanied by Jubilee leaders from the region
